I am a firm believer in the power words have over people. Whether the words are spoken, read, or thought, these words have an opportunity to change us in powerful ways. Therefore, I find it so helpful to memorize verses of scripture. You never know what kind of situation you will find yourself in, and sometimes being able to recall a Bible verse will be the difference in you having a good or a bad day. Scripture is such a beautiful resource. Do not just read it; use it.
Stress, anxiety, and worry is something that everyone struggles with. Honestly, for the longest time y'all I was letting my stress about the future and anxiety about the situations I was in dictate my life. I started following my stress and not my Jesus. But, when I started to dive into verses that talked about combating my worries and giving my stress to God, slowly but surely, I began to feel less and less anxious. So, without further ado, here are my top ten favorite verses about how to get rid of worry, stress, and anxiety. 1.Trouble and distress have come upon me, but your commands give me delight. – Psalm 119:43 Even if everything in the world is going wrong, delight in the Lord. Delight in His ways. Following His commands will always produce good fruits. 2. When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise- in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? – Psalm 56:3-4 Sometimes stress and anxiety from the world can get to us. That is okay; that is normal. But, the world cannot get to our Jesus. 3. Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and He will establish your plans. -Proverbs 16:3 Fear of the future can cause a lot of stress. Trust God. Give Him all your worries, doubts, and plans. He will transform them into something truly beautiful. 4. Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you. – 2 Thessalonians 3:16 There is no one better to receive peace from than the Lord of peace Himself. 5.Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. – Psalm 23:4 There is no need to have anxiety when Jesus is walking next to you. If He takes you through something then He will protect you through it as well. 6.I have set the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. – Psalm 16:8 I like this verse because it reminds me that God has gone before me in every situation. So, whenever I have a future situation that I am worrying about, I remind myself that my Jesus has already been there and knows the way through it. 7.In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. – John 16:33 Jesus was a human. Jesus was tempted. JESUS OVERCAME THE WORLD. There is nothing in this world that Jesus himself has not experienced. That includes being in stressful situations. 8.But my God shall supply all your needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. – Philippians 4:19 God will make sure that I have everything I need. God will make sure that you have everything you need. If you are walking in Him, then you will lack nothing. 9.Cast all your cares on Him because He cares for you. – 1 Peter 5:7 He cares. It is that simple. You do not have to have a life crisis to bring it to God. Jesus Christ died so we could run to Him with all our problems. He is there to listen 10. Therefore, I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear… See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you- you of little faith- Matthew 6:25,28-30 Now I know these verses are a lot to memorize, but I normally just paraphrase them. However, the image of God caring and clothing the flowers is so beautiful to me. These are my favorite verses to remind myself of. I remember when my mom, sister, and I were landing at the Amsterdam airport I saw fields and fields of flowers from the plane. It was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. And best of all, God is the one who takes care of those flowers. Those flowers remind me that God takes care of me. -Morgan :)
